Frequently Asked Questions

What does SMG Development build?

At SMG, we don't classify ourselves as a builder. We are a development company. We study the area, the market, the land available, and the possibilities as to its development. When we find a property with potential, then we either acquire and develop it, or work with the owner in a joint venture.

What kind of projects do you develop?

With the market as it is now, and the need growing for more attractive and affordable living space, our top priority is the multi-family housing market such as townhomes and condominiums. But we also develop office space, such as our Executive Center near the Orlando International Airport, and retail space.

What do you see happening in the real estate market?

This is our opinion, but it's an opinion formed by four partners who collectively have close to a hundred years experience in the housing market, construction, and finance-The southeast is obviously very strong right now, especially in Florida where we are based, and there is still room to grow, as demand continues for housing and office space. We believe the market will continue to remain strong for several years.

Why build townhouses and condos?

Convenience and Affordability-Even with the strong market, many families and first time buyers are looking for an affordable, attractive home. With Townhomes and Condominiums, they can afford a nice place to live, along with many of the amenities that usually only come with a more expensive home.

What's the difference between a condo and a townhome?

When you buy a condominium, usually you're buying just the inside of the unit, with all the exterior amenities, landscaping, etc. belonging to the association. With a townhome, each owner has title to his unit inside and out, along with the yard and landscaping.

I see that all the partners have companies of their own. Why form SMG Development?

The partners at SMG have known one another and worked with each other for years now, and each has particular experience in different aspects of the development process. Bringing these strengths together has been the main object of SMG. It's funny how a partnership of outstanding members can add up to a larger and even more productive whole-and a company team that shares a vision of superior work well done, can only write a larger story of success!
